McMurdo Fastfind Plus
. . . . . . to name just a few, and the list keeps growing!! - Are you a Pilot?Did you know that in May 2007, The CAA announced For more on this breakthrough ruling for private pilot safety - click here |
Simple, yet brilliant!
The Fastfind Plus is a revolutionary hand-held Personal Locator Beacon that features a built-in GPS receiver combined with a 406MHz transmitter and a 121.5MHz homing signal.
It is ideal for alerting the rescue services of an emergency during maritime, light aircraft and outdoor activities (where licensing allows. We can advise you on this).
When activated, the Fastfind Plus with integral GPS provides a 406MHz alert signal via the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system.
There is a visual indication of GPS acquisition. Fastfind Plus also transmits on the International Aircraft Emergency Frequency of 121.5MHz, providing a homing signal for the Search And Rescue (SAR) services.
In a nutshell:
Should you ever be faced with a life-threatening emergency situation, you simply activate your Fastfind Plus, and within minutes the emergency services will know the following:
- Who you are:
the Fastfind Plus has a unique 15-digit Hex-ID which is registered to you. - Where you are:
the Fastfind Plus' built-in GPS will locate you to within the typical accuracy of GPS today (approximately 15m typically) - Your "mode of transport":
based on your registration documents, they will know if you are a boat owner, a light aircraft pilot, a climber etc. They will therefore have a good heads-up on the type of incident they are likely to be dealing with, and task the relevant agencies to perform the rescue - 24-Hour points-of-contact:
essentially, they will have access to your points-of-contact: people they can call immediately to quickly ascertain whether the alarm is genuine or false.
All this is going on in the background, based on a simple 3-stage activation and pressing of a button.
Even if you activated the beacon 4-years into its 5-year shelf life, the Fastfind Plus is guaranteed to keep transmitting for a minimum of 24 hours at a temperature of -20 degrees C, so this is likely to be increased in more temporate climates. All this time, the beacon is sending constant 406 MHz data streams, 121.5 MHz homing transmission, and regular GPS updates.
You just concentrate on staying alive. Leave the beacon to do its job!
